MEREFIELD FOODS | FICTIONAL DEMONSTRATION MF / IND-01 | Version 0.1 | 18 October 2026 New-starter induction: first supervised manual-packing shift This business, procedure and work situation are fictional. This text was written for a Gray Risk Advisory showcase. It is not a client document, an approved operating procedure or a complete site induction. It does not establish compliance or authorise work. SCOPE The example is a new starter at a fictional Victorian food manufacturer, manually packing sealed oat-slice pouches into cartons under supervision. Food processing, open-food handling, machinery operation, cleaning, maintenance and product release are outside this task. Site-specific controls would need review and approval before real use. 1. SUPERVISOR AND ENTRY Prior to commencement of duties, all newly engaged personnel shall present to the induction point and await the nominated supervisor, who shall confirm the allocated packing task and applicable supervision arrangements. Entry to the packing area shall not occur in the absence of this confirmation. 2. HEALTH, HYGIENE AND SITE TOUR Personnel shall notify the supervisor of vomiting, diarrhoea or suspected foodborne illness before undertaking food handling. The supervisor shall demonstrate the applicable hygiene and clothing requirements and identify the designated walking route, emergency exit, assembly location, first-aid contact and means of raising a concern. Personnel shall follow the demonstrated entry hygiene routine, including thorough hand washing with soap and warm running water, rinsing and thorough drying with the supplied single-use towel, and shall repeat the routine after toilet use or whenever hands may contaminate food. 3. TASK AND AUTHORITY Following demonstration by the supervisor, the new starter shall undertake only the allocated manual cartoning of sealed oat-slice pouches under the agreed supervision. This induction does not authorise operation, adjustment, cleaning or clearing of production machinery, interference with guarding, or independent decisions concerning product release or rework. 4. PAUSE, REPORT AND RESTART In the event of uncertainty, damaged packaging, a label inconsistent with the demonstrated product, suspected contamination or an unsafe condition, personnel shall suspend the affected activity, withdraw from exposure where safe to do so and immediately advise the supervisor without attempting rectification or product disposition. Where the supervisor is unavailable, the activity shall remain suspended. Resumption shall occur only following supervisory confirmation that the concern has been addressed and the required controls and supervision are in place. 5. OBSERVE, RECORD AND FOLLOW UP The supervisor shall check understanding through explanation and observed practice, record remaining learning needs and arrange follow-up. DESIGN NOTE The dense wording is intentional. The showcase reorganises it into direct actions and visible boundaries. In a real project, the document owner and relevant workers would review its technical content, local arrangements and completeness before production of learning materials.
